General Summary:

--- Survey Technician ---

The survey technician assists the field survey party by making survey measurements for route surveys by operating various field equipment. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

--- Intermediate Survey Technician ---

The intermediate survey technician assists in field surveys by conducting measurements and assisting in the operation of surveying instruments. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

--- Senior Survey Technician ---

The senior survey technician is responsible for assisting in the operation of surveying instruments and the recording of surveying data. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

--- Land Surveyor in Training ---

The land surveyor-in-training operates surveying equipment and performs a variety of beginning level land survey duties under close supervision of a registered land surveyor. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

--- Land Surveyor ---

The land surveyor provides the necessary field data, research, and calculations needed to produce maps and digital terrain models for the design of highways and the acquisition of right-of-way. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.


Minimum/Required Qualifications:

--- Survey Technician ---

High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, including successful completion of a trigonometry course and three creditable hours of college level surveying courses towards registration as a Professional Land Surveyor.

One year of experience in route surveying.

Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

--- Intermediate Survey Technician ---

High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, including successful completion of a trigonometry course and six creditable hours of college level surveying courses towards registration as a Professional Land Surveyor.

Three years of experience in route surveying.

Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.


--- Senior Survey Technician ---

High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, including successful completion of a trigonometry course and twelve creditable hours of college level surveying courses towards registration as a Professional Land Surveyor.

Five years of experience in route surveying.

Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

--- Land Surveyor in Training ---

High School Diploma or GED/HiSET

Certificate of enrollment as a Land Surveyor-In-Training as issued by the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, and Land Surveyors.

Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

--- Land Surveyor ---

High School Diploma or GED/HiSET

Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Missouri

Successful completion of a range of motion examination and a medical-physical examination.
