Traffic Technician

Summary

TERRA Engineering is seeking a Traffic Technician responsible for various operations

Objective and functions of projects, including the ability to collect field data, perform field observations, compile information from various sources, analyze data collected, and other various tasks as assigned. This is a part-time position based out of St. Louis, MO.  The days and hours will vary depending on the workload and some overnight travel will be required.


Essential Functions      

Gathers and analyzes data about traffic flow, crashes, land usage, roadway geometry and uses FTP and web sites to transfer the data

Measures multi-modal traffic data using video collection units, pneumatic tubes, and/or magnetic traffic counters

Prepares and maintains project records and documentation as required for project

Measures and calculates data based on readings from the equipment.

Sets up, adjusts and operates appropriate equipment on work sites

Collects data and analyzes data for errors

Follows all safety regulations including wearing appropriate reflective clothing and following all other safety protocol for field work.

Maintains accurate data base for all collected data

Prepares graphs, charts, diagrams, and other aids to illustrate observations and conclusions

Monitors street and utility projects for compliance to traffic, survey or construction activities

Performs other duties as required by Department Managers or Project Managers


Qualifications/Requirements


Physical Environment and Demands: The majority of work hours are spent driving and working outside. The remaining time is spent in an office environment.  Travel is often required and is dictated by the project location. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required.
